0

Unknown gunmen have abducted a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, from his residence in Kurmin Risga, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday at approximately 12:15 a.m., when the assailants stormed the St. Gerald Quasi Parish and whisked the priest away to an undisclosed location.

Confirming the abduction, the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, described the development as tragic and called for calm and collective prayers for the safe return of the abducted cleric.

“We solicit your prayers for his quick and safe release,” Shanet said in a statement. “We also urge the general public to remain calm and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.”

He assured that the Diocese will utilize every lawful and available channel to ensure Rev. Fr. Amos returns home unharmed and in good health.

Efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone went unanswered at the time of filing this report.

The incident adds to the growing concern over insecurity in the region, particularly the rising cases of abductions targeting clerics and rural communities.
