Governor Yusuf Warns Kano Security Agencies to Stick to Primary Duties

Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has cautioned security agencies against overstepping their designated responsibilities, urging them to focus solely on their primary duty of protecting the lives and properties of citizens.

This warning was issued during the 15th weekly meeting of the Kano State Executive Council at the Government House. In a statement from the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, Governor Yusuf highlighted the recent increase in thuggery in Kano metropolis, calling on security agencies to take immediate action to curb this menace.

“Governor Abba Kabir expressed disapproval of the recent upsurge in thuggery and clashes involving Yan daba, affirming that the government will not passively observe while unscrupulous elements endanger the relative tranquility and harmony enjoyed by the law-abiding citizens of the state,” the statement read.

The governor emphasized the importance of collaboration between the state government and security agencies to ensure the safety of the populace. He also cautioned judges against the unwarranted release of thugs, stressing the threat they pose to the welfare of Kano’s residents and the need for prompt and equitable justice.

Governor Yusuf reiterated his call for security agencies to adhere strictly to their duties and avoid meddling in matters beyond their designated roles. He assured citizens that the government remains committed to their protection and called for continued support and cooperation from the public.

“The governor implored the populace to continue with their lawful pursuits, assuring them that the government will persevere in its commitment to ensuring their protection,” the statement concluded.
