Governor Sule Condemns Bribery Allegations in Nasarawa TSC

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has called on individuals to take legal action against any official of the state’s Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) accused of soliciting bribes in exchange for teaching appointments.

Speaking on Tuesday, Governor Sule expressed outrage over allegations that some individuals paid money to secure teaching positions, blaming such practices for undermining the state’s education system.

“This is the most terrible thing I have heard,” the governor lamented. “If anybody has collected their money or anything, they can take them to court. I don’t think this is good. I don’t think this is fair. It is unfair to me, as my name is being scandalised for something I have no knowledge of.”

Governor Sule revealed that despite the approval for recruiting 1,000 teachers to improve the state’s education sector, many rural schools remain grossly understaffed, with some having only two or three teachers. He attributed part of the problem to teachers opting to remain in urban areas rather than accept postings to rural communities.

In response to the allegations, the governor announced the suspension of the entire TSC and the establishment of a three-member investigative committee to probe the matter thoroughly.

“We have no other choice than to suspend the entire TSC and put up a committee to investigate them. They will remain suspended until we get the true situation of things,” Governor Sule stated.

The governor’s decisive action highlights his commitment to tackling corruption and ensuring fairness in the recruitment process, as well as his dedication to improving the education system in Nasarawa State.
