Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has urged landlords and property owners to refrain from increasing rents and property prices following the inauguration of key infrastructure projects in Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area.
During the commissioning of the Abiola-Ajayi-Ogba and Obawole-Iju-Ishaga road projects on Monday, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized that the newly completed developments are intended to alleviate the challenges faced by residents, not to add to their financial burdens.
“I appeal to landlords and landowners: do not raise rents or property prices. The purpose of these infrastructural improvements is to ease the lives of our residents, not to create further difficulties,” the Governor stated.
The new 643-meter road, which includes a bridge and slip roads, will connect areas previously accessible only through makeshift wooden bridges that required a crossing fee. This new infrastructure is expected to ease traffic flow and reduce commuting challenges for the community.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his commitment to addressing long-standing issues, including flooding and transportation difficulties, highlighting that these projects reflect the government’s dedication to improving the quality of life for Lagosians.
