Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has extended warm greetings to the Muslim community as they commence the holy month of Ramadan, urging them to embrace the spirit of prayer, unity, and generosity.
In a statement released on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nsa Gill, Governor Otu described Ramadan as a period of spiritual rejuvenation, self-reflection, and discipline. He called on Muslims to use the sacred month to rededicate themselves to values such as compassion, forgiveness, and mercy.
“The month of Ramadan is a sacred period for spiritual reflection, fasting, and charity. I urge all Muslims to use this opportunity to pray to Allah, the Almighty God, for the unity and stability of Nigeria, where peace and justice shall reign,” the statement read.
Governor Otu also encouraged acts of kindness towards the less privileged, emphasizing the importance of reaching out to the vulnerable and marginalized in society.
“As we commemorate this holy month, please remember the less privileged, the vulnerable, and the marginalized; reach out to them with kindness, generosity, and empathy,” he urged.
The governor wished all Muslim faithful a peaceful, blessed, and fulfilling Ramadan, reaffirming his commitment to fostering inclusivity and ensuring that his administration’s ‘season of sweetness’ is felt by all, regardless of religious or ethnic differences.
