Nwifuru made the call during a courtesy visit by Major-General Olatoye at the Governor’s office in Abakaliki. He emphasized the importance of collaborative action between the state government and the military to restore peace and security in the region.

The Governor also proposed a reward system to boost the morale of security officers, citing the positive impact of providing incentives such as cash and car gifts to military personnel who show exceptional performance in their duties.

“I am confident in the calibre of men serving in our state. We will continue to support them to ensure we overcome these challenges,” Nwifuru stated, highlighting the state’s ongoing support for military personnel deployed in Ebonyi.

In his response, Major-General Olatoye expressed gratitude for the Governor’s continued backing of the military and reassured him of the Army’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the state. Olatoye, who assumed command of the 82 Division on January 27, 2025, underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration to tackle security challenges and enhance operational effectiveness in the region.

“I appreciate the honour and respect you have for the military,” Olatoye said, commending the Governor for recognizing the hard work of military officers with cash rewards and other incentives.
