Governor Siminalayi Fubara has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to driving the development of Rivers State through the proposed 2025 budget. Addressing the 119th/120th Combined Quarterly General Meeting of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers (RSCTR) at its Secretariat in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, the governor assured monarchs of his dedication to fulfilling his administration’s promises.
Speaking on the budget’s priorities, Governor Fubara said, “We are poised to deliver many more policies, programmes, and projects to accelerate the pace of development and improve the well-being of our people in 2025, in line with our budget objectives of fostering inclusive economic growth and development.”
He emphasized his administration’s open-door policy, underscoring the critical role traditional rulers play in the state’s grassroots development. He assured them of prompt attention to issues of peace, security, and the well-being of their communities.
“As a government sustained by the unalloyed support of our people and the grace of God, we remain committed to ensuring a good life for all residents of Rivers State. Traditional rulers are indispensable partners in translating development aspirations into reality,” Fubara stated.
The governor urged the traditional rulers to actively collaborate with local government councils and security agencies to promote peace, maintain law and order, and eradicate criminal activities in their domains. He stressed the need for loyalty and partnership in advancing the state’s development goals.
“You also have a responsibility to promote government policies and programmes, uphold the rule of law, and mobilize resources to create an enabling environment for development,” Fubara added.
Governor Fubara lauded the leadership of His Majesty, Eze Chike Amadi Worlu-Wodo, the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers. He credited Eze Worlu-Wodo’s leadership with restoring dignity and unity to the traditional institution in the state.
“His Majesty’s leadership has brought profound unity and respect to the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Council. I am elated by the Council’s pragmatism and commitment to the collective interest of our state,” Fubara remarked.
Eze Worlu-Wodo expressed gratitude to the governor for his administration’s support, including Christmas bonuses for civil servants and financial assistance to traditional rulers and stakeholders. Highlighting Fubara’s achievements, he noted the inauguration of numerous projects, including the Ngo Town to Oyorokoto-Atlantic Road in Andoni Local Government Area, poised to boost the state’s blue economy.
Eze Worlu-Wodo appealed for peace across political divides, emphasizing that a stable environment is crucial for attracting investors and creating job opportunities.
Governor Fubara assured the monarchs of his unwavering respect for the traditional institution, committing to work hand-in-hand with them to achieve a peaceful and prosperous Rivers State.
“We will not rest until we accomplish all our campaign promises, with the help of God, your prayers, and the support of our people,” he concluded.
