Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, has expressed deep concern over the economic policies of the Federal Government, stating that they are causing significant hardship for Nigerians.
Speaking on Thursday at the National Reconciliation Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi, Fintiri lamented the worsening economic conditions under the administration of President Bola Tinubu. The meeting brought together key PDP stakeholders, including the governors of Bauchi and Taraba, as well as the party’s acting National Chairman.
Addressing the gathering, Fintiri described the economic situation in Nigeria as dire, urging the Federal Government to reassess its policies to alleviate the suffering of citizens.
“Nigeria is bleeding. We are suffering, there is too much anger, and the economic policy is not working,” he stated. “Power is a divine privilege, so it must be wielded with trust and responsibility. We always call on the Federal Government to reconsider some of these economic policies that are only imposing hardship on Nigerians.”
He further stressed that governance should prioritize the well-being of citizens rather than external influences.
“The country belongs to us. It does not belong to the World Bank, IMF, or the international community. Whatever will make Nigerians cry must not be part of government policy,” he added.
The meeting also addressed internal party issues, with the Chairman of the PDP Reconciliation Committee, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, reaffirming the party’s commitment to resolving disputes and strengthening its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“Our goal is to reach out to aggrieved members and those facing challenges within the party, ensuring we build a formidable political force in the country,” Oyinlola stated.
The PDP continues to position itself as a viable alternative to the ruling party, emphasizing the need for effective leadership and economic reforms to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges.
