“As the sixth budget of this administration, the 2025 Appropriation Bill reflects current challenges, essential reforms, and the need for inclusive, diversified, and sustainable growth. It aims to stimulate economic growth, reduce inequality, and improve citizens’ well-being,” Abiodun said.
He emphasized that the budget prioritizes infrastructure, healthcare, education, security, youth empowerment, job creation, agriculture, and housing, with a focus on addressing unemployment and poverty while investing in long-term growth.
Key projects outlined in the budget include the renovation of general and state hospitals, procurement of laboratory medical equipment, and the extension of metro rail lines along the Agbado-Kajola and Okokomaiko-Agbara/Lusada axes.
Reflecting on the 2024 budget performance, the governor reported that as of September 2024, the state had achieved 79% of its pro-rated revenue target and 56% of its pro-rated expenditure target. He highlighted these achievements as evidence of Ogun State’s fiscal reliability and expressed optimism about a stronger financial base in the future.
Governor Abiodun called on the Assembly to expedite the passage of the bill, pledging to sustain the delivery of impactful governance for the people of Ogun State.
In his response, Speaker of the House, Daisi Elemide, commended the governor for his commitment to governance and the numerous initiatives aimed at improving the state.
