Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has called on the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to intensify air surveillance in border communities to strengthen security and maintain stability in the state.
The governor made this appeal during a meeting with the outgoing Air Officer Commanding the Special Operations Command at the NAF Base in Bauchi, Air Vice Marshal Eniobong Effiong.
While commending Effiong for his dedication and contributions to the state’s security, Governor Mohammed emphasized the need for sustained efforts to combat criminal activities, particularly in vulnerable border areas.
He stressed the importance of collaboration between the NAF and other security agencies, noting that inter-agency cooperation is essential for achieving lasting peace and safeguarding residents.
“Our administration remains committed to supporting security agencies in their efforts to ensure the safety of our people. We recognize the strategic role of the Nigerian Air Force, especially in providing aerial surveillance in critical areas,” the governor stated.
In his response, Air Vice Marshal Effiong expressed gratitude for the governor’s unwavering support throughout his tenure. He assured that the NAF would continue working with the state government to maintain peace and security across Bauchi.
Effiong has been reassigned to the Office of the National Security Adviser in Abuja, where he will continue his service to the nation in a new capacity.
