Governor Aiyedatiwa Criticizes PDP’s Boycott of Ondo LG Election

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has expressed strong disapproval of the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) decision to withdraw from the upcoming local government elections, attributing the move to fear of defeat.

Speaking after casting his vote at his polling unit 5, Ward 4, in the Ilaje Local Council Area, Aiyedatiwa described the PDP’s withdrawal as an act of “cowardice.” He stated that the party had been involved in the electoral process, with the Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) issuing a timetable for the election.

“I don’t know the reason for that. Maybe the fear of losing, every election has its own logistics, and other political parties are participating for whatever reason that made them withdraw; I am not privy to that,” the governor said.

Earlier, the PDP announced its decision to pull out of the election, citing concerns over the perceived lack of credibility on the part of ODIEC. Despite the withdrawal of the opposition party, Aiyedatiwa commended ODIEC for its smooth handling of the election process.
