Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has announced the death of his mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi, who passed away in the early hours of Wednesday, December 25, 2024. This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Hamisu Gumel, in Dutse.
Hajiya Maryam Namadi was laid to rest on Wednesday afternoon in her hometown of Kafinhausa, according to Islamic rites. The funeral prayer, held at approximately 4:00 p.m., was attended by a large number of residents and dignitaries who came to condole with the Governor and his family during their time of grief.
Among those who extended their condolences was the Commissioner of Police for Jigawa State, Tijjani Abdullahi. In a statement released by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Shiisu Adam, Abdullahi expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the Governor and prayed for the repose of the deceased.
The Governor, who is currently on an official visit to China, received the news of his mother’s passing with deep sorrow. Despite his absence, many residents, government officials, and community leaders gathered to pay their last respects to the late Maryam Namadi and to support the bereaved family.
Hajiya Maryam Namadi is remembered for her impactful life and contributions to her community. The entire Jigawa State mourns her loss and prays for comfort for the Governor and his family.
