Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has firmly denied reports linking him to a coalition allegedly being formed by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing the rumors as baseless and the handiwork of political mischief makers.
In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, the governor dismissed the claims, reaffirming his unwavering loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I will be the last man standing in APC. I can’t and will never even harbour the thought of leaving my party to join any coalition belonging to Atiku or anybody,” the statement read.
Governor Idris emphasized that the APC is the platform through which he rose to political prominence and was elected as governor, making it inconceivable for him to abandon the party.
“My focus remains on the development of Kebbi State across all sectors, not on joining any coalition,” he said. “I refuse to lose focus on delivering good governance. Political jobbers should have a rethink because I will not succumb to their imagination.”
Governor Idris’ declaration comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
