Amid reports of political maneuvering against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s potential re-election bid, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has assured that Tinubu will complete an eight-year tenure before power returns to the North in 2031.

Speaking on Tuesday in Abuja while hosting a delegation from the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum, Ganduje reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to zoning, emphasizing that Tinubu’s leadership is for all regions of the country.

“We advocated for power to shift to the South after eight years of northern leadership, and we worked hard with the cooperation of Nigerians to achieve this. Now, our president is from the South, and by God’s grace, he will secure a second term in 2027. After that, power will return to the North,” Ganduje stated.

He praised the youth group for its efforts in voter mobilization ahead of the 2027 elections and assured them of the APC’s full support. He also commended their role in enlightening the public on government policies, particularly tax reforms, which he noted were initially misunderstood but are now gaining acceptance.

Ganduje further engaged with the Tinubu Young Generation Forum, another support group advocating for the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He acknowledged the challenges Tinubu inherited but expressed confidence that the administration’s economic reforms would yield lasting benefits.

“There is no doubt that many things went wrong over time, and fixing them requires bold reforms. However, we are already seeing positive results, especially in the economic sector, and we believe this will continue,” he added.

As the 2027 election cycle approaches, the APC appears poised to consolidate its hold on power, with party leaders rallying support for Tinubu’s second term.
