The demands made of the administration led by President Bola Tinubu have been made public by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC).
As previously reported, the organized labour unions launched a statewide strike on Tuesday in response to the attack on NLC president Joe Ajaero. It also gave its affiliates instructions to carry out the National Executive Council’s resolutions.
In light of this, NLC has demanded the arrest of several federal employees in a post on X (formerly named Twitter), listing its demands from the federal government.
The statement reads, “1. Arrest and prosecute Mr Chinasa Nwaneri, the S.A. on Special Duties, the deadly gang leader of Hope Uzodinma thugs: He led the attack against workers on that day.
“2. Arrest, prosecute and dismiss all police officers involved in the brutalization of the NLC President and workers in Imo state.
“3. Arrest and prosecute all thugs that attacked the NLC President in Imo State.
“4. Arrest, prosecute and dismiss the chief security officer Imo State government House, SP Shaba: He led, participated and provided cover for thugs to brutalize workers in Imo State.
“5. Arrest, prosecute and dismiss the police area commander who led the brutalization of the NLC President and other workers in Imo State.
