Renowned Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) champion Francis Ngannou recently paid a visit to former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Ngannou shared photos of the meeting on his Instagram, expressing his deep appreciation for the opportunity to gain valuable insights from the esteemed statesman. In his post, he wrote:
“It was an honor meeting the legendary former Nigerian president, H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday at his home office in Abeokuta. It was great receiving some words of wisdom from the legend.”
The visit to Nigeria comes shortly after Ngannou celebrated Christmas in his home country, Cameroon. During his Nigerian tour, the MMA star was also spotted mingling with prominent personalities, including Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy and fellow MMA fighter Kamaru Usman, in Lagos.
This marks Ngannou’s first trip back to Nigeria following his triumphant debut in the Professional Fighters League (PFL), where he secured a first-round knockout victory against Ricardo Ferreira.
Ngannou’s engagements reflect his deep connections to African heritage and his continued efforts to bridge sports and culture across the continent.
