Five Confirmed Dead in Fatal Mercedes Benz Accident on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Five people have been confirmed dead in a single-vehicle accident involving a Mercedes Benz jeep at Fatgbems Bus Stop on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Sunday night. The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m., according to a statement from the Ogun State Police Command.

CSP Omolola Odutola, the police spokesperson, reported that the accident was caused by reckless driving. The driver of the Mercedes Benz, traveling towards Mowe, reportedly lost control of the vehicle, struck a culvert, and somersaulted, ultimately flipping to the opposite direction.

The victims, which included three men and two women, were pronounced dead at the scene. One additional passenger sustained injuries and was immediately transported to AZ Carezone Hospital for treatment. The deceased were transferred to the morgue at Real Divine Hospital in Ibafo.

Authorities have contacted the families of the victims, and investigations into the accident are ongoing. CSP Odutola urged motorists to exercise caution and drive responsibly to prevent such incidents in the future.
