The Federal Government has declared that President Bola Tinubu remains focused and undistracted by the emergence of a new opposition coalition under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), reaffirming his administration’s commitment to driving reforms and economic transformation across Nigeria.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known in a statement released in Abuja on Tuesday. He emphasized that while every Nigerian has the constitutional right to free speech and political association, President Tinubu’s administration is resolutely focused on delivering on its “Renewed Hope” agenda.
“The clamour in the media about the emergence of a new political ‘coalition’ is understandable,” Idris stated, “but Nigerians entrusted President Tinubu with a bold and transformative mandate, anchored in the Renewed Hope agenda.”
According to him, the administration has already begun recording tangible results in critical sectors of the economy and national life. He cited significant reductions in crude oil theft, rising investor confidence, a more stable naira, and declining inflation. He also highlighted security gains and various social programs benefiting millions of Nigerians, including student loans, access to consumer credit, CNG vehicle conversions, and improved government services.
The minister pointed to recent achievements such as the signing of four landmark tax reform bills into law, which he described as one of the most ambitious fiscal overhauls in Nigeria’s history. These reforms, set to be implemented from 2026, are expected to boost prosperity for households and businesses nationwide.
Idris also referenced the recent launch of the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme, calling it the single largest agricultural mechanisation effort in the country’s history, aimed at strengthening food security.
He accused elements within the opposition of attempting to derail national focus and progress through political distractions, but said the Tinubu administration would not be sidetracked.
“The administration refuses to be drawn into distractions engineered by those who would prefer stagnation over reform,” he said. “The Tinubu administration remains undeterred, focused, and committed to building a more prosperous Nigeria for all.”
