The federal government has successfully repatriated 190 Nigerian citizens from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The returnees arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja at 5:45 am on Tuesday, as announced by Bashir Idris Garga, Director of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), North Central Zone.

The repatriation process was managed by a team of government officials led by NEMA. Upon arrival, the returnees underwent profiling and necessary documentation. They were also briefed on their responsibilities and the expected decorum as they reintegrate into their home country.

In the official statement, the federal government emphasized the importance of all Nigerians acting as exemplary ambassadors, upholding patriotism, the rule of law, decency, and integrity.

In related news, the federal government disclosed on Monday that an agreement had been reached with the UAE to grant Nigerian passport holders visas to enter the Arab nation. Following the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, Idris stated, “Today, an agreement has been reached on that, and effective from today, July 15th, Nigerian passport holders are able to obtain visas to go to the United Arab Emirates.”

The agreement follows extensive and mutually beneficial negotiations between the governments of Nigeria and the UAE, leading to the resumption of travel for Nigerian passport holders. The new visa conditions will facilitate smoother travel processes. Nigerians seeking more information on the updated visa conditions can visit documentverificationhub.ae.
