In a significant move to enhance security in Zamfara State, the Minister of State for Defense, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle, has announced the deployment of 1,000 Naval officers to Maradun.

Dr. Matawalle made the disclosure during a six-day working visit to Zamfara at his country home in Maradun. He revealed that a formal letter has already been dispatched to the state government, requesting collaboration for the officers’ accommodation in the RUGA settlement.

“This deployment underscores the federal government’s unwavering commitment to tackling the menace of banditry in Zamfara,” the minister stated.

In addition to the naval deployment, the minister directed the military base in Maradun to expedite the clearing of bandits from the Maradun-Magami-Faru road and the Gora-Jambako-Kaya axis. The directive aims to reopen these critical roadways, ensuring safer passage for residents and fostering economic activities in the region.

“I have instructed the military base at Maradun to intensify operations and eliminate the presence of bandits in these areas without delay,” Dr. Matawalle affirmed.

The deployment of naval officers marks a pivotal step in the government’s ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in Zamfara State, which has been grappling with the challenges posed by banditry. Residents are hopeful that the initiative will bring much-needed relief and stability to the region.
