Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nysome Wike, has called on Nigerians to remain patient and calm in the face of the current economic difficulties confronting the country.

Wike made the remarks during a condolence visit to the governor of Oyo State, ‘Seyi Makinde, in Ibadan on Sunday. The visit was in response to the death of Engr. Sunday Makinde, the governor’s older brother.

Speaking to the press, Wike reiterated his support for the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu, stating that they are aimed at long-term national improvement. “I have always urged Nigerians to be patient with this government. Our country has encountered numerous challenges in the past, but we must acknowledge the progress we have made,” he said. “The policies being implemented by the President are for the betterment of Nigeria, and it is important for citizens to understand that while change may be painful, it is essential for our future.”

Wike emphasized that, despite the hardship many Nigerians are facing, there is no immediate solution to the nation’s issues. “There is no miracle fix. The policies being enacted are designed to benefit all Nigerians. Although the transition may be difficult, we should remain optimistic. President Tinubu genuinely cares for our country, and better days lie ahead.”

During the visit, Wike, alongside former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom and other dignitaries, extended their condolences to the Makinde family. Wike expressed heartfelt sympathy, underscoring the importance of unity and support during times of loss. “In this moment of grief, we stand in solidarity with the Makinde family. You are not alone in this sorrow; your friends and the entire nation stand with you,” he said.

Wike concluded by urging Nigerians to maintain faith in the country’s future while continuing to support each other through challenging times.
