The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday revealed that President Bola Tinubu has invested approximately N300 billion in developing the six area councils within the FCT over the past 17 months.

Speaking at the commissioning of the 9-kilometer Paikon Kore–Ibwa Road in Gwagwalada Area Council, which cost N8.5 billion, Wike detailed the administration’s ongoing infrastructural initiatives.

“Mr. President committed N8.5 billion to construct this road,” Wike stated. “The Aguma Palace–Market Road, valued at N22 billion, will be commissioned in May this year.”

The minister also highlighted other significant projects in the Gwagwalada Area Council, including the completed and ongoing renovation of schools such as the School for the Gifted Gwagwalada, Government Secondary School Gwagwalada, Government Secondary School Anagada, Government Secondary School Tunga Maje, and Government Secondary School Giri. These educational projects amount to N16.5 billion. Additionally, three police divisions are under construction in the council.

“In total, Mr. President has committed over N50 billion to the development of Gwagwalada alone in less than two years,” Wike emphasized. “When you calculate the investment across all six Area Councils, it amounts to no less than N300 billion in satellite town development.”

The minister’s remarks underline the administration’s commitment to infrastructural growth and improved living standards in the FCT.
