Former Head of Service (HoS) of Rivers State, George Nwaeke, has dismissed reports that he was kidnapped and coerced into making a public statement. Nwaeke clarified that he traveled to Abuja voluntarily to report security concerns related to Rivers State.

In a video that surfaced on Wednesday morning, Nwaeke stated that he had lodged at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja and intended to visit the headquarters of various security agencies to address issues affecting the state.

“My name is Frank Nwaeke, and I’m at Transcorp in Abuja. I came here from Port Harcourt this morning to meet with security agencies and report on issues happening in the state that are making me feel unwell,” he said.

Nwaeke also addressed the viral video of his wife, who had earlier declared him missing and speculated that he might have been kidnapped. According to Nwaeke, his wife had been misled into making the statement, as she was fed with false information suggesting his abduction.

“I want to clear the air that I’m safe and fine. I’m in Abuja, and by tomorrow morning, I will be visiting the security agencies to report myself. My decision to come to Abuja is because it houses the headquarters of all security agencies,” he stated.

Nwaeke revealed that he resigned from his position as Head of Service on Monday, citing distress over developments in the state. He emphasized that his wife was unaware of official matters, as they only discuss domestic and social issues.

The development follows a controversial press interview in which Nwaeke made critical remarks about Governor Sim Fubara, prompting speculation about his safety and whereabouts.
