The Lagos-Ibadan expressway was blocked on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 by hundreds of protesters demanding an end to police brutality, extrajudicial killings, and extortion by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The protest, however, brought vehicular movements to a standstill as motorists and commuters got trapped in the gridlock around the secretariat, Ikeja, along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The protesters played music as they danced and sang along whilst chanting their demands in demonstration, “End SARS now!” “End SARS now!”
Despite the announcement of the dissolution of the SARS police unit across the country by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, on Sunday, the protest continues in major South-West, South-South, and North-central region of the country.
