GUDI, YOBE STATE – The Emir of Gudi, His Royal Highness Alhaji Isah Bunuwo Madugu Ibn Khaji, has passed away. The traditional ruler died on Thursday at Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja after a prolonged illness, according to family sources.
The late monarch, who was the 19th Emir of the Gudi Emirate in Fika Local Government Area of Yobe State, will be laid to rest on Friday. His funeral prayer is scheduled to hold at 2:00 p.m. in Gadaka town, the traditional headquarters of the emirate.
Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, alongside top government officials, traditional leaders, and residents, is expected to attend the funeral.
Alhaji Isah Bunuwo Madugu Ibn Khaji was a respected leader known for his commitment to peace, community development, and cultural preservation. His passing marks the end of an era for the Gudi Emirate, one of the 14 emirate councils in Yobe State—all of which enjoy first-class status.
Condolences have begun pouring in from across the state and beyond, as citizens mourn the loss of a revered traditional authority.
