TSO endorses El-Rufai as Tinubu’s running mate
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has confirmed that a crucial meeting of Nigeria’s emerging opposition coalition was held in Abuja on Tuesday night, with a resolution to adopt the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the official political platform ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Wednesday at the Arewa TechFest in Katsina, El-Rufai revealed that the coalition—which includes former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, and himself—is determined to unseat President Bola Tinubu in the next election cycle.

“Yesterday at 8 PM, there was a very important meeting of the coalition we’re putting together to ensure that President Tinubu goes back to Lagos,” El-Rufai said, adding that the coalition had resolved to retain Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, due to his performance.

“Though we will still keep Bosun Tijani—we will still keep the minister—because he is doing good work,” he added.

Insider sources confirmed that the trio of Atiku, Obi, and El-Rufai reached an agreement in the late-night meeting to formally adopt the ADC as the coalition’s political platform.

“They have adopted the African Democratic Congress as the coalition party. All of them—Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai—are working together. They came to the conclusion last night, up till the early hours of this morning,” the source disclosed.

The development marks a significant shift in Nigeria’s political landscape, with major opposition figures uniting under one banner for the first time since the 2023 elections.
