The immediate past governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu of orchestrating a campaign to tarnish his image ahead of Ribadu’s alleged presidential ambitions.
In an interview on Arise TV Monday night, El-Rufai claimed that Ribadu is working to eliminate potential political rivals from Northern Nigeria.
“Ribadu is behind the project to destroy El-Rufai and my reputation,” he stated. “He wants to be President of Nigeria and plans to eliminate every Northerner who appears to be competition.”
El-Rufai revealed that despite their past friendship, Ribadu has been targeting him without success. “They have not found anything to use against me. Now they’re going after lower-level officers who worked with me, trying to convince them to implicate me in exchange for having their problems resolved,” he alleged.
The former governor criticized the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), calling it a “charade,” while commending the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its professionalism.
“I swear to you and to God, I have not taken a penny that I was not supposed to. In fact, as governor, my deputy and I donated 50% of our entitlements, and I have records to prove it,” El-Rufai asserted.
As of now, Nuhu Ribadu has not publicly responded to these allegations.
