El-Rufai Accuses NSA, Gov. Uba Sani of Empowering Bandits

Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has accused his successor, Governor Uba Sani, and the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, of allegedly aiding banditry through their approach to handling kidnappings in the state.

El-Rufai’s claims came in response to a social media post by X user @realYusufTukur, who lamented the lack of attention on a recent mass abduction in Kaduna. According to reports, bandits attacked a community in Kagarko Local Government Area, kidnapping at least 39 people, including a nursing mother and the Wakilin Fulani of Janjala, Alhaji Atah Adamu Wakili.

Sharing Yusuf’s post, El-Rufai alleged that the abductees would be ransomed and later presented to the state government in a staged ceremony, calling it “propaganda over sensible governance.” He warned that such a strategy financially empowers terrorists, enabling them to acquire more sophisticated weapons and carry out further attacks.

“The terrorists, thus further financially empowered, will purchase even more sophisticated weapons and abduct even more people in Kaduna and elsewhere. That is the new ‘modus operandi’ of the geniuses in charge of our state these days,” El-Rufai wrote.

His remarks add to growing concerns over the escalating insecurity in Kaduna and the government’s response to the crisis.
