Ekiti Govt Begins Oluyemi Kayode Stadium Upgrade with FIFA-Standard Turf

0

The Ekiti State Government has kicked off renovation work at the Oluyemi Kayode Stadium, Ado-Ekiti, aiming to upgrade the facility to meet FIFA standards.

The stadium, home to Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) side Ekiti Queens and Nationwide League One club Ekiti United, will see its natural playing surface replaced with synthetic grass.

“Work started last week, and we’ve seen the governor’s commitment to transforming the pitch into a top-standard facility,” said Odeyemi Michael, Director of Facility at the Ekiti State Sports Commission, in an interview with Fountain Times.

Currently, the renovation focuses solely on the football pitch, but Odeyemi hinted that additional improvements could follow in future phases.

Due to the ongoing work, Ekiti Queens will temporarily relocate their home games until the upgrade is completed.
