Ekiti Board Member Dumps Oyebanji, Backs Kayode Ojo Over ‘Lack of Progress’

A prominent member of the Ekiti State Waste Management Board, Mr. Wale Ade-Oba, has publicly withdrawn his support for Governor Biodun Oyebanji, citing dissatisfaction with the current administration’s performance and direction.

In a strongly worded statement released to the press, Ade-Oba announced his resignation from active participation in the Oyebanji-led government and pledged allegiance to Engr. Kayode Ojo, the Pro-Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN). Describing Ojo as a “visionary leader,” Ade-Oba expressed confidence in his ability to transform the state.

“I am writing to share a decision that may surprise many,” the statement read. “After much reflection, I have decided to join forces with Engr. Kayode Ojo, a leader with a vision for a better Ekiti.”

Ade-Oba criticized the Oyebanji administration for what he termed “a lack of meaningful development” across several local government areas, particularly Irepodun/Ifelodun, which he represents. He accused the governor of neglecting loyal party members while rewarding individuals from opposition parties who did not contribute to the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s electoral success.

“Our party members are being overlooked and undervalued despite their dedication,” he said. “Instead, appointments are going to opposition figures, sidelining those who worked tirelessly for the party.”

He also took aim at the governor’s frequent absences from the state, alleging that his “unclear agenda” has contributed to what he described as unproductive governance.

“The governor is often out of the state, and this absence is felt in the lack of productivity under the current administration. I believe it’s time for a change.”

Ade-Oba praised Kayode Ojo’s leadership qualities and policy vision, saying he aligns more with the aspirations of Ekiti residents. He called on others who are dissatisfied with the status quo to rally behind Ojo.

“I want to be part of a government that truly serves the people of Ekiti and values its loyal supporters. I’m ready to work towards a brighter future for our state.”

The development comes amid growing speculation about political realignments ahead of the next electoral cycle in Ekiti State.
