Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday brought prominent businesswoman Aisha Achimugu before the Federal High Court in Abuja, in compliance with a court order.
Achimugu, flanked by two female EFCC officers, arrived at the courtroom around 11:35 a.m.
Justice Inyang Ekwo had on Monday directed Achimugu, who was alleged to have fled the country to evade investigation, to report to the EFCC by noon on Tuesday. He further instructed the agency to bring her before the court the following day for a status report.
According to reports by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Achimugu was apprehended by EFCC operatives upon her arrival in Nigeria at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday and held in custody until her court appearance.
