EFCC Declares Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu Wanted Over Alleged Money Laundering

0

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu wanted in connection with an alleged case of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity for the anti-graft agency. The EFCC urged members of the public to provide information regarding Achimugu’s whereabouts.

Achimugu, 51, a native of Ofu Local Government Area in Kogi State, was identified as a known ally of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Reports indicate that she is accused of covertly channeling funds to opposition leaders, including Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, during the 2023 elections.

The alleged transactions have reportedly caused tension within political circles, as sources suggest President Bola Tinubu felt “furious and betrayed” after intelligence linked funds associated with Achimugu to Governor Sanwo-Olu. Concerns have been raised that the revelation could potentially jeopardize Sanwo-Olu’s political career.

Meanwhile, Atiku Abubakar’s camp has strongly refuted the allegations, labeling them as baseless and politically motivated. In a statement on Thursday, Paul Ibe, media aide to Atiku, condemned the accusations as a “futile campaign of calumny” aimed at advancing President Tinubu’s political interests.

The EFCC, however, remained resolute, appealing to the public to assist in locating Achimugu. According to the commission, her last known address is 6C, Rudolf Close, Maitama, Abuja.

Anyone with useful information is urged to contact the EFCC at any of its offices nationwide, including those in Ibadan, Uyo, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Benin, Makurdi, Kaduna, Ilorin, Enugu, Kano, Lagos, Gombe, Port Harcourt, and Abuja. Information can also be sent via the commission’s official email at info@efcc.gov.ng or by calling 08093322644.

The EFCC assured the public that all information received will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
