The N675 billion budget, aptly named the “Budget of Renewed Hope for A Rising Edo,” aims to stimulate the state’s economy and bring tangible benefits to its citizens.
The Governor, while assenting to the bill at the Government House in Benin City, emphasized that the new budget would serve as a catalyst for economic revitalization and the delivery of democratic dividends to Edo’s people. “I have just signed into law a budget of N675,220,058,858.52, tagged the Renewed Hope Budget for a Rising Edo,” Governor Okpebholo said. “It is hoped that this budget will revive the economy of Edo State and deliver the dividends of democracy to the good people of the state.”
A key highlight of the 2025 budget is the significant allocation for capital expenditure, with a focus on large-scale infrastructure projects aimed at driving sustainable development. Governor Okpebholo stressed that this allocation reflects the administration’s commitment to transformative capital projects in the coming fiscal year.
The budget proposal, initially set at N605 billion, was increased to better support the state’s agricultural sector, a critical area for growth. Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, who presented the bill to the Governor, expressed pride in the Assembly’s swift and collaborative efforts in passing the budget.
The signing of the “Budget of Renewed Hope” marks a promising chapter for Edo State’s development, with key investments planned to improve infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agriculture, ultimately fostering a more prosperous future for all residents.
