Edo Governor Suspends Uwano Monarch Over Insecurity, Palace Chief’s Death

0

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered the indefinite suspension of Dr. George Oshiapi Egabor, the Okumagbe of Uwano Kingdom in Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area, following a surge in kidnapping and killings within the community.

The decision comes in the wake of escalating insecurity in the area, including the recent killing of a palace chief, Late John Ikhamate. In connection with the incident, the monarch’s secretary, Chief Peter Omiogbemhi, has already been arrested by security operatives.

Governor Okpebholo’s Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, issued a statement on Thursday confirming the indefinite suspension of the traditional ruler as part of efforts to restore order and ensure accountability in the affected region.

The government vowed to intensify security operations in Etsako East and its environs, pledging to bring all perpetrators of violence and criminality to justice.
