Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has approved the appointment of Dr. Anthonia Njoku as the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the state Specialist Hospital.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Musa Ikhilor, on Wednesday in Benin City. The statement noted that Dr. Njoku’s appointment takes effect from December 4.
Dr. Njoku is an accomplished medical professional and academic. She earned her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) from the College of Medical Sciences, University of Maiduguri, and holds a Master’s degree in Reproductive Health. She also completed a Diploma in Bioethics and a Certificate in Principles and Practice of Clinical Research from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health in Boston.
Prior to her appointment, Dr. Njoku served as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the College of Medical Sciences, Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. She was also an Honorary Consultant Specialist Grade 1 at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital, Edo State.
The statement highlighted Dr. Njoku’s extensive experience in clinical practice and academic medicine, emphasizing her qualifications as instrumental in enhancing healthcare delivery at the Specialist Hospital.
