The Department of State Security (DSS) has apprehended two principal suspects linked to the brutal killing of 16 northerners in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State. The arrests, made in Uromi, followed credible intelligence, as security operatives continue their search for other individuals involved in the deadly attack.
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, had earlier revealed during a condolence visit to Kano State that 14 suspects were already in custody and awaiting transfer to Abuja for further interrogation.
During the visit, Governor Okpebholo expressed his commitment to justice, assuring bereaved families that those responsible for the heinous act would be prosecuted. He also promised that adequate compensation would be provided to the families of the victims.
A statement from the governor’s media office later confirmed that the two newly arrested key suspects have been moved to Abuja, where they will undergo further questioning and prosecution by the appropriate authorities.
Efforts to track down additional suspects remain ongoing as the DSS intensifies its investigation to ensure justice prevails.
