Delta Political Earthquake: Oborevwori, Okowa, Top PDP Leaders Defect to APC

0

In a major political realignment in Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, along with key political stakeholders including former Vice Presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa, has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The mass defection was announced following a high-level meeting of PDP leaders and stakeholders held on Wednesday in Asaba, the Delta State capital.

Reacting to the development, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as transformative leadership that continues to attract top political figures to the APC.

Sharing a video on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, which showed Governor Oborevwori and members of his cabinet singing the Tinubu campaign anthem “On Your Mandate,” Keyamo wrote:

“Today is the day the Lord has made in Delta State. Finally, finally, Delta is APC! Thank you, Mr. President, for your leadership that has attracted the best to our Party.
Thank you, my leader & Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for your foresight and courage in taking this bold decision.”

The defection marks a significant blow to the PDP in one of its longstanding strongholds and is expected to shift the political dynamics in the South-South region ahead of future elections.
