Embattled human rights activist and lawyer, Dele Farotimi, has reaffirmed his determination to face the ongoing legal proceedings against him, following his recent release on bail.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, Farotimi expressed his readiness to confront the challenges ahead, likening his preparedness to a warrior sharpening his battle axes and priming his weapons for conflict.
“I am strong enough to rumble unruffled against principalities and powers, but I am human enough to retain the capacity to shed tears of joy in appreciation of the grace of God, expressed in the concerted efforts of fellow victims,” he wrote.
Farotimi further emphasized his resolve, stating, “My battle axes are newly sharpened, my guns primed, I am ready to war. My resolve was NEVER tested, but I was waiting for the next round of the fight to commence. I KNEW that the first round had been lost by those responsible for my imprisonment.”
The activist was recently released from detention after meeting bail conditions set by a Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti, which had granted him bail to the tune of N30 million.
Farotimi’s legal troubles began when he was arrested over allegations of defamation against prominent Nigerian lawyer and founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti (ABUAD), Afe Babalola.
With his trial ongoing, Farotimi’s declaration of readiness underscores his resolve to vigorously defend himself against the charges leveled against him.
