Embattled Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has boldly declared that no force can prevent her from returning to her homeland, despite government-imposed restrictions.
Addressing a large crowd of supporters who gathered to welcome her in Okehi Local Government Area on Tuesday, Natasha reaffirmed her unwavering connection to her roots.
“Nobody and nothing can stop me from coming home. I’m an Ebira woman; this is my land. I’m the daughter of the late Jimoh Abdul Akpoti. I know my roots; I’m not a bastard, and I’m not afraid of anybody,” she declared.
The senator’s statement comes amid heightened tension in Kogi State, where the government recently banned rallies and public gatherings, citing security concerns. The state authorities also prohibited fishing and other activities following the reported loss of two lives in Kasemiya, Katubo, and Umozu Ette, all in Kogi West Local Government Area.
Adding to the clampdown, the Kogi State Police Command issued security alerts urging the suspended lawmaker to cancel her planned homecoming rally. In a related move, Amoka Monday, Chairman of Okehi LGA, imposed a curfew to deter large assemblies.
Despite the restrictions, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan received a triumphant reception from hundreds of supporters who defied the government’s directives to welcome her back.
The senator’s return follows her suspension from the Senate for six months over alleged misconduct during plenary. The suspension came in the wake of her confrontation with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, whom she accused of sexual harassment.
Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s determined stance and the overwhelming support she received demonstrate the resilient spirit of her followers and their commitment to her cause, despite political turbulence.
