Nigeria’s Minister of Defense, Alhaji Muhammed Badaru Abubakar, has announced significant improvements in security across the Northwest and North-Central regions, attributing the progress to sustained military operations against banditry.

Speaking to journalists in Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State, the minister highlighted that coordinated efforts in Zamfara, Sokoto, Niger, Katsina, and Kaduna states have led to a notable decline in bandit and terrorist activities.

“From the feedback we are receiving, people across the affected areas are confirming that the security situation has improved significantly,” Abubakar said. “However, despite these positive developments, we remain committed to building on these achievements.”

The minister reaffirmed the federal government’s determination to completely eradicate insurgency before the end of the year, emphasizing the importance of providing adequate logistical support to the armed forces.

He also acknowledged the role of opinion leaders, civil society organizations, and local residents in recognizing the improvements, underscoring the government’s dedication to ensuring lasting peace in the region.
