The Defence Headquarters has announced the surrender of two notorious terrorists, Abu Radde and Umar Black, who had been operating in the North West theatre of operations. The terrorists laid down their arms to troops of Operation Fansan Yamma on January 19, 2025.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, it was revealed that the duo had been active in Batsari and Safana Local Government Areas of Katsina State.
The surrender followed a series of coordinated offensive operations by ground troops and the air component, which dismantled multiple terrorist enclaves and inflicted significant casualties on the insurgents.
During the operations, the troops successfully rescued 15 hostages and recovered a cache of assorted weapons and ammunition.
Major General Buba reaffirmed the military’s commitment to sustaining the offensive, with the ongoing pursuit of notorious terrorist leader Bello Turji and other key targets.
“The military remains resolute in its mission to eliminate threats posed by terrorists and destroy their capabilities on the battlefield,” Buba said.
He further emphasized that terrorists have two choices: to surrender or face defeat on the battlefield. The troops continue to intensify operations to deny insurgents the ability to launch attacks against innocent citizens.
The Defence Headquarters reassured Nigerians of its unwavering determination to restore peace and security in the region.
