Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has called on security agencies in Osun State to intensify their efforts in maintaining peace as the local government elections approach.
In a statement shared on his X page, Davido acknowledged his previous criticism of the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Abba, after a wave of violence that claimed three lives in the state. Following a thorough review of the situation, the singer expressed his newfound appreciation for the police’s efforts, which he initially overlooked.
Davido emphasized that the recent bloodshed, which angered him deeply, led to a misjudgment of the police’s actions. However, he now recognizes the sleepless nights and hard work put in by the security agencies, particularly the police commissioner.
“It’s time to acknowledge the significant role the police have played in ensuring peace,” Davido stated. “The contributions of the Commissioner of Police and his team deserve commendation. In memory of the innocent lives lost, we must work together to ensure a peaceful local government election on February 22nd.”
Davido concluded his message by urging all stakeholders to prioritize peace and allow the rule of law to prevail, wishing the security agencies success in maintaining order during the upcoming elections.
