GUSAU – Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the 16th Emir of Gusau.
The appointment follows the passing of the former Emir, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, who died on July 25, 2025, after serving on the throne for a decade.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, announced the new Emir’s appointment. He explained that the decision was based on the recommendation of the Gusau Emirate kingmakers and was made in accordance with traditional customs and relevant legal provisions.
Alhaji Abdulkadir, who until now held the traditional title of Bunun Gusau, is the eldest son of the late monarch.
Governor Lawal, while confirming the appointment, congratulated the new Emir and urged him to uphold the values of peace, unity, and progress in the emirate.
The new Emir is expected to bring continuity to the leadership of the emirate and to build on the legacy of his late father, who was widely respected for his contributions to peace and development in the region.
