Dangote Petroleum Refinery has successfully exported two jet fuel cargoes to Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil producer. This marks a significant milestone for the Nigerian refinery, underscoring its world-class standards and cutting-edge technology.
Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, made the announcement on Tuesday during a visit by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) to the Dangote Fertilizer Limited and Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos. Dangote praised the accomplishment, highlighting that the refinery’s global reach, including this successful export to Saudi Aramco, was a testament to the company’s ambitious goals and international competitiveness.
“We are reaching the ambitious goals we set for ourselves, and I’m pleased to announce that we’ve just sold two cargoes of jet fuel to Saudi Aramco,” Dangote stated.
NESG Chairman, Mr. Niyi Yusuf, lauded Dangote’s $20 billion refinery project, which holds the title of the world’s largest single-train refinery. He emphasized that Nigeria’s path to a $1 trillion economy is dependent on investments of this scale. “To achieve a $1 trillion economy, much of that must come from domestic investments. This refinery, along with the fertiliser plant and petrochemical complex, is monumental,” Yusuf said.
He added that these local industries are crucial for Nigeria’s industrialization and the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The NESG is committed to advocating for an improved investment climate to attract entrepreneurs, stimulate economic development, enhance food security, and address national security concerns.
In response, Dangote reiterated the pivotal role of the private sector in driving national development. He stressed the importance of job creation and highlighted the need for local industries to reduce dependency on imports. “Developed and developing nations, including the USA and China, actively protect their domestic industries to safeguard jobs and promote self-sufficiency,” he remarked.
This successful export not only elevates Dangote’s refinery on the global stage but also reinforces Nigeria’s growing importance as a key player in the international oil market.
