The Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc within the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the ruling party and expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
In a joint statement issued on Wednesday and signed by prominent CPC figures, Senator U.T. Al-Makura and Mr. Osita Okechukwu, the bloc dismissed speculations of an impending defection, describing such claims as “mischievous” and unfounded.
“We remain integral to the APC and are fully aligned with its leadership and vision,” the statement read. “We have neither left the APC nor do we intend to leave.”
The CPC, one of the legacy parties that merged to form the APC in 2013, emphasized its enduring role in shaping the party’s foundation and future. It underscored its pride in the sacrifices made to build a political platform centered on unity, justice, and national development.
Addressing concerns about internal party discontent, the CPC bloc acknowledged that while some members may feel marginalized, such sentiments are not exclusive to any single group. They encouraged aggrieved members to seek redress through proper party channels rather than resorting to public outbursts or hasty exits.
The bloc also threw its weight behind President Tinubu’s economic and governance reforms, noting that while the policies may be tough, they are critical for national recovery and long-term prosperity.
“We urge patience and collective support as the benefits unfold,” the statement said.
Calling for improved internal communication, the CPC urged the APC leadership to enhance engagement at all levels to foster inclusivity, reduce tensions, and sustain party unity.
“At this critical point in Nigeria’s democratic journey, all APC members—especially those with deep roots in the party’s formation—must work together to preserve its legacy and consolidate democracy,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its position as a “vital pillar” of the APC, the CPC bloc pledged to continue playing a responsible and stabilizing role in the party’s evolution and the nation’s progress.
