The Benue State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty by its newly posted Commissioner of Police, CP Emenari Ifeanyi Innocent, PhD, psc, mnips.
In a statement released on Sunday, April 27, 2025, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Anene Sewuese Catherine, the Command expressed confidence that CP Emenari’s wealth of experience will bolster policing efforts and enhance security across the state.
A native of Ekwulobia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State, CP Emenari brings an extensive academic and professional portfolio. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Jos, along with a Master’s degree and a PhD in Literature in English from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
Since joining the Nigeria Police Academy in 1992, CP Emenari has built a distinguished career spanning over three decades, with operational, investigative, and administrative roles across several states, including Zamfara, Imo, Katsina, Anambra, Cross River, Osun, Ogun, Abia, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
His notable appointments include serving as Unit Commander for various Police Mobile Force (PMF) squadrons, Commandant of the Police College of Information Technology in Abeokuta, and Area Commander of Akwete Area Command in Abia State. Internationally, he represented Nigeria as Contingent Commander to the United Nations Mission in Sudan and served as Deputy Security Advisor in Eastern Equatorial State, South Sudan.
Before his deployment to Benue, CP Emenari served as Commissioner of Police and Force Provost Marshal at the Force Headquarters.
An alumnus of several specialized police trainings — including the Unit Combat Course, Armoured Personnel Carrier Course, and Strategic Leadership and Command Course — CP Emenari is expected to bring strategic depth to the policing framework in Benue State.
Upon assumption of duty, he pledged to prioritize community policing, strengthen partnerships with critical stakeholders, and maximize available resources to ensure the protection of lives and property across the state.
