The Lagos State Government has shut down the Eti-Osa Isolation Centre.

The governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu announced the closure at Lagos House, Marina, during the state’s 17th update on the management of coronavirus saying it occurred on Friday night.

Sanwo-Olu also said that the Agidingbi Isolation Centre would also be closed down and the patients there relocated to another centre which is soon to be inaugurated, which is, the Indo-Centre in Anthony area.

“Over the last four to five months, we have built a large capacity centre, one cannot be over-prepared. We have gotten to a stage where we need to decide which of these facilities to keep running. Some of the isolation centres are having less than 20 per cent of occupancy and this is why we reached a conclusion to shut down Eti-Osa facility”, the governor said.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also explained that the Infectious Diseases Hospital in Yaba is gradually being reverted back to its former status of being a hospital catering for all forms of infectious diseases and not just COVID-19.

He stated further that the CACOVID dedicated tent on the IDH grounds would remain strictly for COVID-19 cases.
