Court Restrains Wike, FCTA from Selling Abuja Property in Guzape

An Abuja High Court has issued an interim injunction barring the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and others from selling a landed property in the Guzape District of Abuja.

The property, located at Plot No. 4411, Cadastral Zone A09, became the subject of the court’s ruling after an ex-parte motion was filed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Reuben Atabo, on behalf of the claimant.

Justice Mohammed Zubairu, a vacation judge, granted the injunction on Monday, citing the necessity of protecting justice and upholding the principles of fair hearing. The certified true copy of the court’s decision, marked as motion M/16807/2024, was made available on Tuesday.

In his ruling, Justice Zubairu ordered all defendants, their agents, and representatives to refrain from trespassing on or interfering with the claimant’s possession of the property. He emphasized that the injunction is temporary and will remain effective until all parties have been served and the motion on notice is heard.

“The interim order of injunction is to last for a few days pending when all parties are served and appear before this court for the hearing of the motion on notice,” the judge stated.

He also granted additional reliefs requested by the claimant, underscoring the need for due process in resolving the dispute.

The case has drawn attention due to the involvement of prominent officials and the strategic location of the property in Guzape District, an area known for its prime real estate.

Further proceedings are expected in the coming days as the court moves to hear the motion on notice.
