The Kaduna State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has asserted that only God—not former Governor Nasir El-Rufai—can determine the outcome of the 2027 elections.
In an interview with journalists, Mamman Lagos condemned El-Rufai’s recent remarks against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, urging the former governor to steer clear of the state’s political affairs.
“God will decide who wins the governorship and presidential elections in 2027,” he stated, emphasizing that Governor Uba Sani has focused on governance rather than political distractions.
The commissioner commended Governor Sani for reversing unpopular policies of the previous administration, including restoring deposed traditional rulers, returning confiscated properties, and reducing high tuition fees imposed under El-Rufai’s tenure.
Meanwhile, 255 councilors from across Kaduna State have endorsed President Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for second terms in 2027, declaring that there is “no vacancy” in Aso Rock or the Kaduna Government House.
Speaking on behalf of the councilors, Muhammad Sani Badiko highlighted Governor Sani’s achievements in rural development, economic recovery, education, and healthcare. “We are mobilizing grassroots support for his re-election in 2027 and urge political actors to wait until after 2031,” he said.
With rising tensions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna, Mamman Lagos warned against inflammatory statements and dismissed claims that any individual holds the key to political success in the state.
