China Criticizes Australia Over Ban on DeepSeek AI App

0

Beijing has strongly criticized Australia’s decision to ban the Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) app DeepSeek from government devices, calling the move a politicization of economic, trade, and technological issues.

Australia announced the ban on security grounds, citing concerns over data privacy and potential risks associated with foreign-owned AI applications. In response, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Wednesday, asserting that the Chinese government has never and will never require businesses or individuals to illegally collect or store data.

The move comes amid ongoing tensions between China and Western nations over technology security, with Australia joining a growing list of countries imposing restrictions on Chinese-developed digital platforms.
